EWB-UNH went to Indonesia so that we could address the lack of freshwater on a small island developing state, Gili Trawangan. Supplying the freshwater needs of the community alleviated the need for shipping freshwater from the mainland. Developing appropriate technology to treat individual brackish well water was the main objective of this project. Rainwater collection was an alternative source of freshwater which was considered, but was more difficult to implement. Another objective of this project was to progress environmental education and establish a replicable solution, ultimately progressing the establishment of a sustainable freshwater supply.
